About me

I’m Laura Forni originally from Argentina and currently living in California. I’ve been working for the Stockholm Environment Institute, Davis office, for almost ten years. My background is in agricultural and resource economics from UC Davis. I started SEI working on incorporating agricultural land decisions in the Water Evaluation and Planning (WEAP) software that was driven by the economic valuation of water. I also got involved in the execution of WEAP ensemble runs and the visualization of WEAP output under various projects in Latin America (Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Argentina), in Asia (Afghanistan and Cambodia), and California under the Robust Decision Support (RDS) methodology. I enjoy the process of visualizing model output developed by my colleagues to interactively share with stakeholders learning about their concerns under very different basin’s context. Lately, I’ve been working on examining gender and social equality challenges in connection with poverty and water in Colombia, Cambodia, and Bolivia by integrating gender and social equity aspects into model-based projects. I have the pleasure to be part of the Gender Equality, Social Equity, and Poverty (GESEP) Initiative (2020-2024) and the Water Beyond Boundaries (WBB) Initiative (2020-2024) from SEI.
