I’m Laura Forni, Water Program Director and Senior Scientist at the Stockholm Environment Institute’s US Center (SEI-US), based in Davis, California. Originally from Argentina, I trained in agricultural and resource economics at UC Davis.
I help governments, water agencies and development partners plan for water under a changing climate. I lead modeling and policy work across California, Latin America (Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia), Africa and Asia, using WEAP to connect water, people and the environment in planning decisions.
My focus is making complex models useful to the people who depend on them: clear visualization, close work with stakeholders, and transparent representation of how water is used, including gender and social equity.
Partners include IDB, the World Bank, the states of California and Washington, and water utilities.
